Use energy saving bulbs!

South Africans need to save electricity, particularly during peak times (7:00 - 10:00 in the morning and 18:00 - 21:00 in the evenings). One of the ways to save is to use an energy saving light bulb or compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), which lasts up to six times longer and uses 80% less electricity than a normal bulb. The lamplife of 1 CFL is equivalent to six conventional bulbs.
Why save energy?
The greater the demand for electricity, the more electricity must be generated. This in turn means that more fuel must be converted into energy in order to generate electricity. Coal, oil, gas and uranium are all non-renewable sources of energy. Once the reserves are used up they cannot be grown or manufactured, either naturally or artificially.
Some facts from Eskom :
For every 1kw/h of electricity that you save, the country will save 1,5 litres of water and 0,5 kg of coal with 1 kg less carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.
